Mother's Day Bargain

Mother's Day is May 13th. There's only a few more days to order gifts online for Mother's Day for them to get to mom on time. Every year I struggle with what to get my mom. She pretty much has everything she could ever want or need and it's very hard to please her with gifts these days.

There's always the option of getting her jewelry she loves bracelets and necklaces. But I feel like she has so many already, and eventually they all end up sitting in her jewelry box anyways. So maybe this year jewelry isn't the best bet.

I know that mom loves to walk. Her and her friends even have a walking club where they walk everyday together. She does need a good pair of shoes. But I'm not exactly sure what size she is, so maybe those wouldn't be right this time either.

She does love her garden, and planting her flowers. I know that she's always looking to find new decor' for her yard. Maybe some solar garden balls would spice up her garden. And I know she would love to talk about how they light up at night and she wouldn't even have to plug them in because they're completely solar powered. I can never go wrong with getting her stuff for the yard or garden because she'll always use that. Plus they're only $19.99 and free shipping!

Happy Mother's Day!

Camping Essentials!

My favorite time of year is camping season. Camping to me means relaxing and enjoying the small things in life. I love being far away from the city, where there's no phones, no TV, no computers, it doesn't get any better than that.

I've been trying my hardest to get all my camping gear before I leave so that way I'm not running around trying to get everything the day before I go. I need camping essentials to get me through my time in the wilderness, but I also need some items to have fun with as well.

My most recent purchases include:

The Original Popcorn Popper

The Genuine Pyramid Toaster

  1000W Gas Generator

The Privacy Pop-up Tent
The 3 Piece Lock Back Knives

The Men's Heritage 8 Inch Boots

The Ronco Pocket Fisherman
Pair of Hiking Poles

Happy Earth Day!

I'm always trying to find ways to "go green" and help out the environment, it's not easy in the busy world we live in. But the smallest lifestyle changes can save you money and help save the earth.

Here are 5 ways to "go green" with Heartland America...

1. Go Solar!
Solar energy is one of the best ways to "go green" and save money. Now days you can get solar lights, solar panels, solar pest repellers, even solar showers!

2. Wind Energy
Solar power isn't the only way to generate power, wind energy is actually one of the most efficient ways, the natural power can produce never ending energy. With a wind generator you can create endless energy for free.

3. Fuel Efficiency
With the way gas prices have been lately, I do everything I can to pinch my pennies. And I'll do anything I can to save on gas. Fuel Doctors are the new craze, they are expected to slash your vehicles MPG's by 20%! Not only that but they reduce your carbon footprint on the world.

4. Save Water
Some parts of the world are suffering from lack of water, here in the U.S. we don't even think about it. We take showers twice a day, flush the toilet numerous times, and even let the water run while we brush our teeth. Why not save water? Rain barrels are an easy way to reuse rain water, let nature fill up your rain barrel and then use that water to water your garden or lawn.

5. Save on Heating Bills
Luckily it wasn't that cold in Minnesota this winter, but normally running my heat all winter, nearly makes me go broke. Getting a space heater is the best way to cut down on heating bills. This heater can heat a 1000 square foot space for just pennies a day!

Earth Day isn't just about saving the earth, its about keeping our planet alive and creating a clean lifestyle for humans. By "going green" you're not only helping the planet out but you could be saving yourself money too!

Workwear Breakdown

It is that time of year again, construction season. Even though traffic seems to be backed up a little sooner than normal, it's good to know those with seasonal jobs are back at it a little earlier this year. In Minnesota the landscapers, construction workers and roofers usually don't start working outdoors again until at least the end of May. But due to our warm weather lately, almost everyone is back to work.

The work has began early, that means the shopping for workwear supplies must start early too. Heartland America has all the work boots that a worker could ever need. Plenty of steel toe options for protection, lots of comfortable hiking shoes, and even the perfect cowboy boots for all the farmers out there.

Working outside can get cold, dirty and wet. So once the footwear is taken care of you must make sure to get the appropriate apparel. Carhartt sweatshirts will never do you wrong, they're warm comfortable and affordable. Carhartt even sells overalls, that are meant to get dirty and built tough for the toughest working conditions.

Now that the warm weather has began, get a head start on all your workwear shopping. From boots, to jackets, heck, even work tools are sold at heartlandamerica.com.

Tax Day April 17th

Have you had a chance to get your taxes done yet? I know I did mine right away, I hate procrastinating and wanted to make sure I got my return back as soon as possible. Some people pay hundreds of dollars to get their taxes done, not me. With just a few items and a little help from the internet, it really wasn't hard to do them by myself.

Here are the items I used to help me with my taxes...

My Dell 1.4GHz Laptop helped me research everything I needed, including tax forms and frequently asked tax questions.

I hooked my computer up to my HP All-in-One Printer so I could print off all my tax forms. I've had this printer for several months now and never had a problem, it prints so fast up to 29 pages per minute!

I was always told to keep copies of every important paper, not only does my HP printer have a scanner, but this Ion Copy Cat Handheld Scanner is even easier to use. It's even cordless, you just run the scanner over your important documents and it stores everything, I plug it into my computer and within minutes I have copies of everything.

Since my computer and printer are so compact, I don't really need a big desk to keep all my devices, this simple Computer Desk works just fine and doesn't fill up my entire room, and its only $49.99!

I'm not always at home and I don't always bring my laptop with me, I have this 7 inch Netbook that I bring with me everywhere. It fits right in my purse and now that my taxes are done I can check my bank account and email to see if my tax refund has been deposited, with a touch of a button, I can get all the information I need.

You have exactly one week to get your taxes filed, don't be late! And make sure you have all the items you need to get the best tax return possible.
