Keeping cool this Summer

Even though it isn't all the hot here in Minnesota yet, the eastern states are getting hit with temperatures into the high 80's. Eventually it will be hot everywhere and it is definitely time to invest into an air conditioner or something to keep me cool this summer.

Unfortunately I don't have air conditioning in my house and those portable window AC's don't work as well as I'd like, plus they can be so expensive! This Portable AC has 7000 BTU, rolls about and moves wherever I am and it even has an LCD control panel so I can adjust the temp accordingly.

I have a lot of smaller rooms in my house that I do like to keep cool, especially my daughters room and it is unnecessary to put a big AC unit in her room. This Air Cooler would be perfect for her. With a 7-1/2 hour timer, 120-degree oscillating fan I know it'll keep her cool throughout the night.

Sometimes I turn my air off at night and just leave the windows open. It gets cool enough to just let the natural air inside. This Window Fan will definitely help with keeping the house cool with the windows open. The two circulating fans pull the warm air out and the cool air in.

I can never have too many ceiling fans in my house. Keeping my fans on constantly definitely helps with cooling down all the rooms in the house. This Aloha Ceiling Fan has three speeds and is perfect for rooms up to 20'x20', a ton of cooling power.

Whether it's an AC or a fan, I'm going to jump the gun early this year and prepare for the hot weather that is upon us. Anything I can do to keep cool this summer, with Heartland America I'll be prepared.

Bird Watching

This year the birds have just been flocking to my yard, and they're big birds too! My favorite part about spring time is listening to the birds chirp again, after a long winter the birds chirping definitely brightens my day. The more birds I can bring to my yard the better.

This 16 Room Martin House is really something to talk about. This three-tier barn helps you build a healthy colony of purple martins for a mosquito free environment. Panels lift for easy cleaning and for removing old nests. Safety railings help stop baby birds from falling while the entry doors are Starling resistant.

I cannot wait to set it up and start watching the birds come and the mosquitoes disappear.

Summer Travel

Memorial Day weekend is only a few days away and I am excited for a much needed vacation. It's basically the kick off of the summer and I can't wait for all the bonfires, camping, and most of all traveling.

I'm going to use this Magellan GPS on my excursion up north this summer.

After 3 hours in the car I'll be itching to set up my 4 Person Dome Tent.
Once the tent is up, it's time to get prepared for the night and make sure all the mosquitoes are taken care of.

Once all the business is taken care of, then it's time to have some fun, and I love to fish!
I'll be super tired after driving all day, setting up camp and fishing, so crawling into my comfortable sleeping bag on top of my new air mattress will be a treat.
Happy Memorial Day everyone and enjoy your summer travel experiences!

It's Getting Sunny!

With all the sunshine we've been getting this week it's hard for me to not smile. Who doesn't love warm, sunny weather? I'm definitely in the market for all latest summer products and that includes sunglasses.

I love sunglasses, as far as I'm concerned you can never have too many! Its nice finding different kinda of sunglasses for cheap. Like these Gold Sunglasses, you can't find these anywhere. The fact that they are Baja Beach Brand makes me secure that they aren't going to fall apart. Plus where can you find advanced optically correct tri-acetate cellulose lenses for distortion-free viewing, a polarizing core to eliminate glare, four UV filters for unparalleled UVA/UVB protection and two scratch resistant layers for durability for this price?

And if you think Baja Beach is a good brand, then you'll really like these Hummer Sunglasses. The frames are crafted from tough, yet lightweight metal and feature ABS ear tips and nose pads for comfort. I'll look stunning on the lake wearing these.

When summer rolls around all I can think about is being outside, these Coleman Sunglasses are sure to get me through this summer. The polycarbonate frames are super light, yet amazingly strong. Also features high-end polarized lenses that cut glare & offer 100% protection against harmful UV rays.

These three pairs of sunglasses aren't all that Heartland America has to offer for summer gear. Keep cool under the shade with this umbrella, keep the bugs away with this mosquito trap, and keep your pool clean with this pool blaster.

Cordless Phones

Not many people have a house phone anymore, but I do. I like having a phone at home, especially a cordless phone. It's convenient and actually works out well for me because when I'm home I don't have my cell phone on. I just hate spending hundreds on phones and I need more than one.

This Uniden Phone System comes with two phones and is under $100! Both phones have excellent range, call waiting caller ID with 50 number history, handset speakerphone, 100 name/number phonebook, last 5 number redial capability, personalized ringtones, backlit LCD display & more.

When two phones aren't enough, get three! This Uniden System comes with 3 phones and a dock. It features call waiting caller ID with 50 number history, handset speakerphone, 100 name/number phonebook, last 5 number redial capability, personalized ringtones, backlit LCD display & more.

And when three phones aren't enough, try four! This Panasonic System comes with four phones and 30% increase in battery life over 5.8 GHz phones too. Also features Intelligent Eco mode, digital answering system, up to 4 way conferencing, lighted keypad, talking call waiting caller ID, handset locator, handset-to-handset intercom, redial, range extender with double the transmission distance from the base, any key answer and more.

Don't spend hundreds of dollars on cordless phones for your house, go to heartlandamerica.com and get everything you need in a phone, all for a low price and free shipping*!

Fishing Opener

Guess what? This weekend is finally the fishing opener in Minnesota! I say "finally" because some of the lakes up north aren't even completely free of the ice yet. The last I heard some of the people were still walking on the ice up there, crazy. But luckily, this weekend I'll finally be on the boat fishing away and I couldn't be more excited!

I got these Mighty Bite Fishing Lures that are supposed to appeal to all five sense in fish, I sure hope so because I'll never hear the end of it from my friend Gary if I come home with less fish than him.

Gary always has the most high end and high tech fishing gear when we go on our annual trip. Thankfully this year I got this Flambeau Soft-Sided Tackle Box, which I know is better than anything he has. Tons of pockets, a long strap so it's easy to carry... it'll fit all my lures and bobbers.
I know the guys are going to really get a kick out of my new fishing rod. This little Ronco Fisherman will really make them laugh, especially if I catch most of my fish with it.
We're planning on doing some fly fishing later this year and I'm definitely going to need some good waders if I intend to keep up with the other guys. These Itasca Waders will keep me dry and warm for sure, plus they're only $79.99!

Sometimes on our fishing excursions we stay up late and hang out by the campfire, and it can get really cold at night. This year I will not be the only one without a heavy duty flannel.

Three more days 'til the big opener and I plan on catching my limit. Happy Fishing Opener!

Last Minute Mother's Day Deals!

Mother's Day is Sunday and even though it's a little last minute, I plan on buying my mom's gift online today. With express shipping it should get here in time. Every year it's such a struggle trying to find something different that will please her, without spending a ton of money.

She's always wanted a tablet, but she isn't the most tech-savvy person I know. She just wants something simple to go on the web and read her books on. I think this 7 Inch Android Tablet will be perfect for her. It already comes with some Google Apps, which is great because I wont have to explain to her how to download apps on the Android Market, they're already preloaded.

With my mom you can never go wrong with jewelry. These Blue Topaz Earrings are beautiful and cheap, I know she'll love them. They are classic and elegant, plus the gemstones are set in real sterling silver.

Back in the day mom used to make us kids homemade ice cream and I know she'll just die if she sees that I got her a real Ice Cream Maker!  It's rare to find a real ice cream maker with an actual crank on it, this one looks just like the one my Grandma used to use. Mom and Grandma used to spend hours making homemade ice cream, it was delicious.

But these day's mom's favorite thing to do is relax and read her books. She always says how hard it is for her to see with just the overhead light and has always wanted a reading lamp. This Magnified LED Reading Lamp is exactly what she has been looking for. Not only will it brighten up her pages but it helps magnify the pages of her book too!

I always plan on getting mom something different for Mother's Day each year and I'm glad I can count on Heartland to give me plenty of options. From jewelry to shoes, to electronics to computers, mom will definitely be satisfied this year.
